Stephen Andriole

Steve Andriole held high-level positions at Safeguard Scientifics, Inc. (Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer) and CIGNA Corporation (Senior Vice President for Technology Strategy & Chief Technology Officer). He also served as Director of the Cybernetics Technology Office of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the government think tank that created the underlying technology of the Internet. In addition, Steve is founder or co-founder of three companies - International Information Systems, Inc., TechVestCo, Inc., and Ascendigm, LLC.

Steve has held faculty appointments at George Mason University, Drexel University, The Wharton School, and George Washington University. He is author, co-author, and editor of more than 25 books including “The 2nd Digital Revolution,” “Managing Systems Requirements,” “Cognitive Systems Engineering,” and the “Handbook of Artificial Intelligence.” He has also written more than 200 articles, research reports, and book chapters.

Steve is a monthly columnist for Datamation magazine and manages an on-line data collection project for the Cutter Consortium, where he is a senior consultant. He sits on several corporate boards including the ePrivacy Group, LiquidHub, Inc., and Gestalt, LLC. Steve received his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland.
